Position Title: Project Associate

Reports to: VP or Director of TA

Position Status: Full-time

Location: Remote or at one of All Our Kin’s sites in CT or the Bronx

Target Start Date: Winter 2021

Salary: $50,000-$76,000

All Our Kin is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that trains, supports, and sustains family child care educators to ensure that children and families have the foundations they need to succeed in school and in life. At All Our Kin, we support family child care educators at every stage of their development using a strength-based, high-touch approach. Through our programs, family child care providers succeed as early childhood educators and small business owners; parents have access to high-quality, affordable child care, making it possible for them to enter into and remain in the workforce; and infants and toddlers gain the enriching experiences that prepare them to succeed in school and in life. All Our Kin is recognized as a national model, and has been proven through studies to raise the quality, availability, and sustainability of family child care.

All Our Kin first opened its doors in a housing development in New Haven, Connecticut in 1999. Today, we serve over 1,000 family child care educators with networks representing five Connecticut cities and the Bronx, in addition to the surrounding communities. And through technical assistance, our reach is even greater as we partner with organizations, agencies, and policymakers to support and strengthen family child care.

What You Will Do

All Our Kin’s Technical Assistance (TA) program expands our reach by training new communities in our model and best practices that we’ve learned over 20 years. We are searching for an enthusiastic team player who is looking to make an impact and is excited about being a part of an effective, growing, and dynamic non-profit organization. This position will support the overall operations of the technical assistance team.

Administrative (30%)

  • Assist with scheduling related to TA (team meetings, meetings with external partners, events, interviews, etc.)

  • Provide logistical support in advance of TA events, such as securing room reservations and required technology, and ordering food and materials

  • Take notes at selected TA meetings

  • Manage the TA email account

  • Schedule and send email blasts using Constant Contact

Maintain TA systems (25%)

  • In collaboration with with the TA and Finance team, track TA expenditures and ensure timely payment

  • In collaboration with the TA and Development Team, track grant reporting and ensure access to information and data in preparation for funder and board reports

  • In collaboration with the TA and Evaluation team, support the tracking of and access to TA data

  • Maintain and update the TA Google Drive, coordinating with Team Members as appropriate


Technology & Design (25%)

  • Support the technological elements of virtual trainings including Zoom support

  • Oversee TA website content

  • Design learning and marketing materials and content resources for external use


Research (10%)

  • Pull high quality, relevant readings and articles on targeted topics as requested by TA team (e.g., best practices in coaching, how to give feedback effectively, etc.)

  • Research training and technical assistance strategies of other nonprofits

  • Explore technology platforms that could support technical assistance work, such as:
    • Learning management systems

    • Creating and sharing video libraries of content

    • Encouraging networking amongst cohorts through virtual means

    • Enabling virtual coaching

  • Possesses strong:
    • Organizational skills, and can set priorities and manage multiple projects

    • Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate complex information and to tailor communication for different audiences

    • Spanish proficiency preferred

  • Is eager to build on:
    • At least 1-3 years of experience in administrative roles, or non-profits.

    • A comfort with Google Workspace, Adobe, Zoom, and other graphic design platforms

In addition, the candidate must be willing and able to travel occasionally to All Our Kin sites and technical assistance sites across the country, once public health conditions allow it
